Restoration of a waterbody on the Daren estate
Mowing and removal of small duckweed
The Initial situation
The water at Daren Estate is an important part of the historic grounds. Over time, however, a dense layer of duckweed and other plants had formed there. This not only created an unpleasant appearance, but also took away the water’s effect as a calm, scenic focal point.
The client therefore wanted to restore the water to a better condition and bring back its natural beauty.
Planning and preparation
Before starting the work, a detailed analysis of the conditions on site was carried out. Not only did our team consider the nature of the water, but also the special requirements of working on a historic property.
Our aim was clear: the duckweed and other troublesome plants had to be removed as completely as possible without damaging the grounds or the character of the site. It was also particularly important not to leave any damage to the land and to deposit the collected material neatly and easily accessible on the bank.
The Execution
Use of the Nereus 150 for effective removal of duckweed
In January 2025, we started work with our Nereus 150 and one of our experienced drivers.
This special machine is ideal for maintaining watercourses and allowed us to treat the entire watercourse precisely and effectively. First, we mowed the vegetation. We then used a specially adapted sieve to remove almost all of the small duckweed from the surface.
A particular focus was placed on carrying out the work in such a way as not to detract from the overall historical appearance of the property. The removed material was deposited along the riverbank to dry, as requested by the client. The removal was then carried out by the estate staff themselves.
Our careful approach ensured that the appearance of the property was maintained in the long term and that the surroundings were not damaged.
The result
Nature and the environment back in harmony
The results speak for themselves: the water looks natural, calm and well-maintained again.
The surface of the water is free of duckweed and other disruptive factors – and the overall appearance is much more harmonious than before. Residents and guests of the estate can now enjoy an inviting and well-maintained water landscape that is perfectly embedded in the historical ambience.
The client was also very satisfied. The professional execution of the work underlined our company’s high standards of quality and care.
Long-term benefits
Our work has contributed to the long-term preservation and enhancement of the watercourse as a central element of the estate. The use of our machine has proved particularly successful – it is ideal for such projects and is available for rent or buy as required.
The visual improvement was immediately noticeable. In addition, the removal of duckweed also has long-term benefits: The water body is now much easier to maintain and the water quality remains stable. Last but not least, professional water maintenance helps to preserve the historic charm of the estate.
