Efficient maintenance and reed reduction

Augustin Entsorgung GmbH, a leading company in the environmental services sector, was faced with the task of improving the water quality of an artificial pond that is used to collect rainwater and wastewater.

The challenge

The problem was that nutrients were accumulating in the pond due to the rain. An increase in nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus in the water can promote the growth of reeds. These nutrients can come from agricultural runoff, fertilizers, sewage treatment plants or other sources. In addition, overgrown reeds had to be removed in order to maintain the functionality of the basin.

Use of our Ampibian mowing boat

The solution was our BERKY NEREUS 240 AMPHI, an amphibious vehicle specially developed by us for mowing work, collecting flotsam and de-silting the water. Our mowing boat made it possible to efficiently remove the reeds and thoroughly clean the pond. The measures taken to clean the pond led to a significant reduction in reed growth.

Result

The improved water quality shows that the use of the BERKY NEREUS 240 AMPHI not only improves the ecological conditions of the water body, but also reduces the need for chemical treatments.

For the pond cleaning work, the BERKY NEREUS 240 AMPHI was equipped with the BERKY knife cutting and the BERKY collecting rake. The cutting unit was used to efficiently cut reeds and thus prevent the pond from becoming overgrown. The collection rake was then used to pick up floating plant debris and other impurities that had collected in the water.
